Reviewing Japanese Names and Mixed-Language Speech
Listen for the intended spelling, not just a plausible reading. A name can sound right while using the wrong kanji. Confirm people, places, and organizations from an agreed name list; check kana spellings and katakana loanwords against the context of the conversation.
Numbers need their surrounding units. Replay dates, prices, percentages, and counters rather than checking isolated digits. A Japanese sentence can also contain English product names or technical terms. Compare those words with slides or an interview brief, then keep one consistent spelling throughout the saved transcript.
Automatic text is a draft. Quiet speech, regional accents, overlapping speakers, and background music can obscure words. Ask a Japanese-speaking reviewer to check passages that matter, and preserve uncertainty instead of guessing at an inaudible phrase. This page does not promise a measured accuracy rate or human transcription.

For interviews, locate a passage by its timestamp and replay the surrounding answer before quoting it. Keep polite endings and qualifications that change the speaker's meaning. For lessons, use the text to revisit explanations and check technical vocabulary against the course materials.
For your own voice notes, turn spoken ideas into a draft you can edit and search. Select this page when the output should remain in Japanese. Use the general workspace when you need broader transcription controls or an optional follow-up action on an existing task.
Supported Files and Plan Limits
Supported extensions are 3GA, 8SVX, AAC, AC3, AIF, AIFF, ALAC, AMR, APE, AU, DSS, FLAC, FLV, M2TS, M4A, M4B, M4P, M4R, M4V, MKV, MOGG, MOV, MP2, MP3, MP4, MPGA, MTS, MXF, OGA, MPEG, OGG, OPUS, QCP, TS, TTA, VOC, WAV, WMA, WEBM. The recording must contain decodable speech; renaming a file does not change its format.
Transcription runs in the cloud, so the selected media is uploaded for processing. It is not an entirely local service. Your account's credits, current subscription, and per-task limits apply; see plans and usage limits for the current allowance. The server checks the file and available entitlement before creating the task.
Completed work joins the same Recordings history as tasks from the general workspace. Filter by source or type, reopen the task on this page, and download its saved output while signed in as its owner. A private task link does not grant another account access.

Will the output stay in Japanese?
Yes. Japanese is the default input language and transcription keeps the source language; this page does not automatically translate the recording into English. You can explicitly change the language before submitting a different-language recording.
How should I review names and specialist terms?
Replay each uncertain passage and compare names with an agreed reference, such as a participant list or lesson glossary. Check kanji, kana, numbers, units, and English terms in context. Have a Japanese-speaking reviewer confirm important wording before reuse.
Is Japanese transcription free or entirely local?
Processing takes place in the cloud and uses account credits. Your current plan determines the available allowance and limits; a free allowance is not unlimited transcription. Check the balance and plans before submitting.
Can I return to a recording later?
Yes. Sign in to the same account and reopen it from Recordings, or use its task link to restore the saved state on this page. Transcript and caption exports stay associated with that task and require owner access.
Can I export Japanese subtitles?
Yes. Review the saved timed cues, correct their text and timing, then download SRT or VTT. Changes to the prose transcript and subtitle cues are saved separately, so check both when preparing captions.
