The scripts were written for this page and read by built-in macOS voices, so the audio is clean, single-speaker and synthetic. Reviewing Accents, Names and Numbers in Spanish
Most corrections in a Spanish transcript fall into a few predictable groups. Work through them with the audio playing.
- Tildes
Accents that change meaning
A missing accent can produce a different valid word, so a spellchecker will not flag it. Listen for sí and si, tú and tu, él and el, más and mas, and the qué or cómo that opens a question. Check verb endings too: terminó and termino are different tenses.
- ¿ ¡
Opening punctuation
Spanish marks the start of a question or exclamation. Automatic punctuation can drop the opening mark or place it at the wrong clause when a sentence is long. Put ¿ where the question actually begins, which is often after an introductory phrase.
- Números
Numbers, dates and times
The same spoken number can come back as 2580 or as dos mil quinientos ochenta. Choose one style for the document. Spain usually writes 1.250,50 and many Mexican documents write 1,250.50, so confirm amounts against an invoice or slide rather than guessing the separator.
- Nombres
Names and surnames
Two surnames are common and both matter. Recognition may split a compound surname, drop the ñ in Iñiguez or Peña, or spell a name the way it sounds: Ximena and México keep an X that is pronounced like a J. Confirm spellings against a participant list.
- Variantes
Regional words stay regional
Keep what the speaker said. A speaker from Madrid may say ordenador, coche and vosotros; a speaker from Guadalajara may say computadora, carro and ustedes. None of these is an error to normalize. Correct only words that differ from the recording.
- Spanglish
English inside Spanish speech
Brand names, job titles and technical terms often stay in English. They may be respelled phonetically. Leave Spanish selected when Spanish dominates and fix those words during review. If a recording switches language for long stretches, compare the result with Auto-detect on a short excerpt first.
Spanish Audio to Text for Interviews, Research and Classes
A reporter working from a Spanish interview can find a quote by its timestamp, replay the answer, and correct a surname before it goes into an English article. A researcher can keep focus-group responses in the words participants used, regional vocabulary included, and translate only the passages that need it.

Need English? Translate After You Review
Translation starts from the saved Spanish transcript, so review first: a wrong name or number in Spanish carries straight into English. When the transcript is ready, choose Translate and pick English. The translation is saved with the task, and your Spanish text is not replaced.

Supported Files, Silence and Plan Limits
Upload common audio and video formats such as MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, WebM, MP4 and MOV, or record in the browser. The file picker lists every accepted extension. Each file can be up to 1 GB and 60 minutes; split longer recordings. A renamed extension does not convert the audio.
Recordings are uploaded for cloud processing; this is not an offline converter. Sign in to submit, check the estimate against your balance, and see plans and usage limits and the privacy policy. Only the account that created a task can open or download it.
A recording with no audible speech does not produce a transcript. When the result is empty, holds only non-speech tags, or holds only a known Whisper subtitle-credit line, the task fails with a no-speech message and its transcription credits are returned. Very quiet speech under loud noise can still be missed or misheard, so check the waveform and volume before submitting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the transcript be in Spanish or in English?
In Spanish. This page transcribes the words as spoken and does not translate them during transcription. If you need English, translate the saved Spanish transcript afterwards; that step is available on Pro and Max plans and keeps the original text in the same task.
Does it work for Latin American Spanish as well as Spanish from Spain?
There is one Spanish setting rather than a separate option per country, and the same model handles recordings from Spain and Latin America. Accent, speed, audio quality and local vocabulary still affect the result. Try the two practice clips above, then test a short excerpt of your own recording before a long job. No accuracy rate is claimed here.
What happens if my recording is silent or only music and noise?
No transcript is saved. Speech models can invent text on silence; for Spanish, Whisper is known to output a subtitle credit such as “Subtítulos realizados por la comunidad de Amara.org”. If a result contains no words, only non-speech tags such as [Música], or only that credit line, the task is marked failed with a no-speech message and its transcription credits are returned.
Can I transcribe a conversation that mixes Spanish and English?
Yes, but review the English words. Keep Spanish selected when most of the speech is Spanish; brand names and English phrases may be respelled. If the recording alternates languages for long stretches, compare Spanish with Auto-detect on a short excerpt and keep the setting that needs fewer corrections.
Why is there no PDF download on this page?
The shared PDF writer currently replaces characters outside basic ASCII, which would turn ñ, á or ¿ into question marks. Download DOCX instead and save it as a PDF from your word processor if you need one. TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON keep Spanish characters as UTF-8.
Is Spanish transcription free?
Processing runs in the cloud and uses account credits: up to 30 seconds costs 0.5 credit, and longer files use one credit per started minute. Your account shows any free allowance. Translation and other AI actions are charged separately and need an eligible plan. Selecting a file costs nothing until you submit.
